George Henry - Peace Harbor Foundation Portrait

George F. Henry

President, Coast Radio

George grew up in the restaurant business working for his family’s assorted restaurant ventures over the first 18 years.   He attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC.  While in attendance he was fortunate to meet the Program Director of a 100,000 watt FM station (WMUU) where he was hired to be a part time reliever.  It was less than a month before he was placed in the afternoon time slot.  Over the next decade he moved back to help his family after the passing of his father.  But music and radio kept calling him.  He moved to Nashville, TN  in 1989 to work on his songwriting and in the early 90’s got a job with WRLT-Lightning 100.  He began again as a part-time replacement, but quickly moved into a permanent position and worked into the Director of Marketing and Morning Show Co-host/News Director.

Over his work career he also bought and ran a successful Glass business in North Carolina and went to work for Mark Media WTZQ in Hendersonville, NC spending 10 years as morning show host and program director. Before coming to Florence he had a brief stint with KXL in Portland, but then was hired by Jon Thompson at Coast Radio.  George has worked in Florence for the last 8 years and recently purchased part of the station from Thompson.  George is married to Deb Jameson (PeaceHealth). They enjoy Motorcycles, kayaking, hiking, travel, dining... and, of course, Karaoke!
